Google Nexus 9 Microsim to usb adapter + usb OTG?

Hi,

Weird question. Does there exist any microsim to usb adapter, and if there would, would it be possible to connect it with the N9? I'd like to be wirelessly connected with the tablet, but where I'm going, there won't be any wifi available. I will also bring a phone, but I need a backup.

Can you not just tether from your phone?

Or connect the phone by usb as a modem.

Tether yes, but I could buy a mobile wifi router. Thanks for response.
