Google Photos - has the option for a direct photo reversion disappeared in new UI?

In the Google Photos app on Android (specifically for Pixel), in the not-too-distant past, if I rotated a photo and saved directly (instead of saving a copy), I was able to easily revert it by choosing to edit the photo again and then simply tapping the option to revert. It seems there was a recent UI update to Google Photos where this direct reversion is no longer possible. Now, if I rotate a photo and saved directly, then chose to edit again with the intention to revert, it asks "Edit original photo? This photo has had effects added that can't be edited. Continuing to edit will revert your photo back to its original version". Fine, but after selecting "EDIT ORIGINAL" with the hopes of simply being able to revert it back to the original, the photo shows up in the editor in its original rotation BUT the option to save (as is) isn't there - the entire Save buttons disappear as long as I don't make any further edits; it seems Google Photos expects me to make ANOTHER edit on top of this reversion before it allows me to save, which is not what I want in such scenarios. I simply want to revert it to the original. How do I accomplish this in the new UI?

Tested on Pixel 7a (since I'm always asked the model here) but I assume this likely applies to Android for many/all Pixel models as it's a Google Photos UI issue.
