Google photos not retaining photo edits.

For some reason Google photos is not retaining my photo edits. I like to crop my fishing photos to show more detail. But when I hit save I have to wait a bit for it to finish. Then when I exit the photo and come back to it, it appears in its original size. It's not just cropping either. Does the same if I edit for effects, too. Anyone else having this problem?

Are you saving those pictures on an SD card? Try this, edit a picture, tap 'Done', tap the three dots top right and select 'Save copy'. Do you get the same problem or the two pictures are still available on Google Photos?

I am saving photos to my SD card. I never had this problem before. I don't know if it has something to do with the Oreo update.

Who knows. Maybe that's a sign that the SD card is starting to fail. I'd recommend you to switch storage back to internal and see if the problem persists.

Same thing here on my Z Force. I don't use Photos as my primary gallery app, but I just edited a pic and ended up with two copies; the original and the edited pic.

I use a different app for my primary Gallery and this has always been the case for me when editing pics; an edited one and the original. I guess the Photos app is now doing the same thing.
