Okay so my Google photos that I do have automatic backup on and it's great however when the photos and videos are backed up to my cloud account, they don't Auto delete off my device locally. I mean in settings there is an option to delete off device once photos are backed up but is there a way that the phone can do it automatically?

I haven't come across an 'auto-delete once backed up' setting but there is a simple method to have it remove pictures from your device that are already backed up: Settings -> Free up device storage

Sadly as of right now there is no automatic delete after update. There is also the problem of not deleting pictures from sd cards even through the free space methods or even by clicking delete. Argg... I really like Google photos but I hope they can update it a little faster. It's not like they don't have the means or the time Haha.

Yes I love Google photos, And I love the fact that I can use everything from the web as well. It's Really convenient!
