Am i stuck with it? Are there other options? Everytime i text someone a picture all they get is a link. I assume that has something to do with Google photos, and i honestly cannot stand it. Can i turn it off? Use another photo app? I just wanto to be able to send someone a picture, and they get the picture - not a LINK. I miss Gallery..

If you're sending photos from the Google photos cloud, that could be why they're getting links.

save one to the phone then share it. shouldn't have links then.

I took a picture of my cat, clicked share, and sent it to my daughter straight from the camera, and everytime it just shows up as a link. Do i need to fix settings in google photos or my phone or something?

Ok, so i just sent her the same picture from my phone and she got it as a picture and not a link. So it appers that when i send straight from the camera it shows as a link. Must be a camera setting? I'm confused..

What you click the "share" icon in a picture, a menu pops up from the bottom. This applies to pictures from Google Photos, the camera app, downloads, documents, wherever. The top two rows of the menu will be a bunch of your contacts. If you select your contact from this area, it sends them a Google Photos link. You want to look just below the contact names and select "Messages". It will be the same icon as your text message app icon. Once you select this you're taken to an empty message, where your photo has been attached, and the cursor is in the "To" block, ready for you to enter a recipient. You can also tap the text box below that to enter a message as well.
