The Pixel and Pixel XL were stiffly priced, to the dismay of those accustomed to the kinder pricing of the Nexus series. That is not of course to say that they were unfairly priced, given their flagship quality. But it is has been rumoured that the Pixel 2 may be even higher-priced. Would that deter you from buying?

Re: Prices

I'm personally a sub $400 smartphone buyer. Trying to eek out the best value for money with things like the OnePlus 3T, ZTE Axon 7, or Honor 8 :) So the Pixel was already out of my price range. But i certainly want one haha. Which is why I'm very interested in the rumoured 'Budget Pixel'. Anything from Google is awesome.

For those who purchased the Google Pixel XL they could always get the standard Pixel and maybe offset that price increase? Will be interesting to see what the price ends up being. Hopefully nothing scary in the $800+ range. :)

Re: Prices

I think if Google would have cut the prices by about $100 that would have been better accepted by some of the price critics.

Re: Prices

Depends on what you get for the money. If Google ups the storage, I'd pay more $$$$.

Re: Prices

I don't think they were priced too high at all. It does sound like they're going to go up by about 6-7% in price, which should still be in line with the rest of the market.

The price alone is not what would deter me from getting the Pixel 2.

The more likely reason would be if I have enough money in my "Tech budget" account to purchase it this year.As well as the final specs/design/...etc

If they will retain the premium price, I hope they come up with better specs...on par with what Samsung has

I don't want a compromised Pixel.

Not as long as it has IP68, Bluetooth 5, and a better carma ..Hoping for a dual lens set up with a wide angle that probably won't happen lol

This is what quite a few people are saying. They just want the absolute best Google can put in a device with no compromises. Will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year. I can see $899 price tags haha.

I like this if true. I'd defeinately be interested in this. Made by google, so always get the latest updates, hopefully carrier unlocked and with an unlockable bootloader, plenty of developer support. Can't go wrong with that. But please don't skimp on the camera aka nexus of the past.

Hopefully, the Pixel 2 XL will be a better value this year because last year it wasn't a good value (and I think it will be).

Will be interesting if I'll be willing to pay a fortune here lol. But I do want this phone. BTW, Google does offer a payment plan like carriers do right?

With the iPhone 8 rumored to cost $1k for the entry level model, up to $1200, I suspect the Pixel 2 will up the price versus last years. I just hope they don't go as high as Apple.

Is buying through Fi the same thing as buying direct from Google, or does Google make some sort of distinction between those two options?

They have different prices at different times and at one point had different banks set up for payment options, not sure if that's still the case or not.

I hope the small pixel 2 is a "Mid-range" phone. I'll take the big bezels if the price is around $499. There are no good replacements for my aging Nexus 6P imo. OnePus 5 is close but the camera doesn't seem like it's as nice as the 6P even is. Everything else has a terrible skin slapped on or a bad camera.

I want a Pixel but I just cant see paying over $700 for a phone anymore, 6P has me spoiled I suppose.
