Google pixel 2 wifi only apps

Just purchased the Google pixel 2 today so I am fairly new to this. I was a Apple user prior.. is there a way to make certain apps only work while wifi is available? Shutting off the background data does not seem to do the trick.

I don't believe you can do what you're describing natively. You'll need like a firewall third party app.
