Android Central Question

I purchased two identical Google Pixel 2 XL phones for family members from the same dealer. After not being able to receive calls on either phone, I went back and changed to new sims, thinking it was a batch of faulty sims. Still the same problem, and the message received is still "The number you have called is not connected, please check the number before calling again".

If one of the phones calls my number and I answer it is fine, but when I return the call it doesn't work. If either of the phones rings the other it is the same story. Same message everytime.

Is this a hardware problem, or a setting problem?

I doubt it's a hardware issue because both are doing it. Who is your carrier and have you checked with them?

Thanks Mike Dee. I have swapped the sim card from another phone that works from the same carrier and I can phone the Pixel2 OK. It appears that between the two new phones and four new sim cards that the Pixel 2 must be either corrupting each new sim card, or there is a problem with both phone numbers which previously worked fine on their respective pre-Pixel phones.

Definitely a carrier-problem. This is the kind of thing that sometimes happens when a number is having complications when being ported between carriers.
