The jury is still out on Tensor in my opinion. Qualcomm performance remains ahead by a healthy margin:

2nd gen Tensor is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
3rd gen Tensor lags behind Snapdragon 8 gen 2 (and more so with Samsung's custom S23+/U variant).

Maybe over time Google will close the gap then, hopefully they will improve or rip and replace the dodgy radio, charge faster and achieve better power efficiency/runtime too.

The main thing of interest to me would be battery life.
I have a pixel 7a, and its battery life was not good to start with and has gotten worse over time. My Pixel 4a before that still lastet longer at the end of its life than the 7a when new. I would trade up to the Pixel 8 if its battery life was significantly better than the 7a, but from first reports, that does not seem to be the case. Or am I wrong?

I was excited to buy the 8pro. Received it Monday, returned Friday. I'll keep my pixel 5 another year.
1. I really missed the rear finger print reader.
2. The screen would ignore my inputs for a few seconds+ - really annoying.
