Something completely different - that copies the form factor of the OnePlus Open exactly?

I don't why Google gets credit for just jumping on the bandwagon by making their foldable exactly the same as others, but Samsung's tweaking is given no credit whatsoever. I know the Z Fold 6 seems like a minor update from the Fold 5, but if you really compare it to the line over the years you will easily see how much the form factor has changed.

Personally, I don't understand why the outer screen needs to be a standard phoen ratio. I can see how that might be appealing for someone who uses a regular phone all the time and does a quick review of a foldable, but to me the inner ratio matters more, because I want to use the big screen for as much as possible. The inner screen ratio on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is basically a square, which is optimal for nothing. So this outer ratio actually compromises the inner ratio in a way that makes no sense to me. I actually prefer the method that Google did on the original Pixel Fold, since its passport style design balanced the inner and outer ratio better.

Unfolding the phone presents you with an 8-inch "Super Actua Flex" display, which provides an almost 1:1 aspect ratio. In doing so, Google is able to reduce potential issues regarding app compatibility.

I don't understand how the 1:1 ratio helps app compatibility, at all. No app is designed for 1:1. At least with the origjnal pixel fold, if the app didnt support landscape, you could rotate your device to portrait and it would work better. With a 1:1, it will always be wrong and there's nothing you can do to adjust it to be better.

Thank you so much for mentioning that! I got the fold 5 exactly for that reason: having a slim phone outside - perfectly usable with one hand- and having still a >1 form factor inside allowing me to watch videos and consume media - actually having a bigger screen. With a 1:1 you can't even see more than on the outer screen. What good is that? While multitasking is sometimes really useful, even that is better in a not 1:1 ratio when I then turn the phone sideways.
For me, foldables now basically died again after becoming a huge fan throughout last year.
