Google Play Music Showing Outdated Album Cover

[Android Central Question]

So I've been downloading some music and editing it with MP3 Tag. I realized that since the album covers were so small in size (500 x 500), my phone displayed a low quality album cover, which I realized after I added the music to my phone. After this happened, I changed the Album Cover to a higher quality. I removed the old one and added the new one in MP3 Tag. For some reason, however, I could not view the new album cover and can only see the old, blurry and pixelated one. Please help! I am using a OnePlus 3T and the most recent android OS at the time of this post. Thank you! *I wrote that because tbh idk what the OS is right now*

Welcome to Android Central! Try going to Settings>Apps, select Play Music, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Then open it again and wait a few seconds for the database to repopulate. Does the problem persist?

Yeah, it still displays the wrong album cover. I think Play Music just saved the album cover to the original one I had...

Did you upload the album to your Google Play Music library in the cloud? If so, edit the album art there.

No, I did not. I just plugged in my phone, and drag and dropped the files.

Are the music files saved to Internal Storage or the SD card? What happens if you delete that album from the phone's storage, then copy it over again, but this time to a completely different directory? I'm just wondering if there's some hidden directory in /Music (or wherever you're saving your music files to) that includes some thumbnail information.

Yeah, I deleted the entire Music folder and made a new one, but that didn't work either...

It just seems like the wrong album art is stuck in a cache somewhere. Try wiping the system cache partition: OnePlus 3T - Recovery Mode - HardReset.info

I guess before too long, this problem might solve itself when Google Play Music eventually goes away in favor of YouTube Music.:-\

Maybe is too late but I hope you see, I found the problem, go to "com.android.providers.media" --> "albumthumbs" as you can see, this folder saves álbum thumbs. Just delete all the files on It and boom you are free from outdated cover on tour album.
