Google Play Music: Where is the equaliser?

[AC Question]

I opened Google Play Music (on my Samsung Galaxy S3) and went to my settings to switch on my equaliser but it wasn't there. I then did the same on my Tab 4 but it wasn't there either. Is there a workaround for this new update? Is there a way I can uninstall the update without going back to the factory version? Why does Google hate us? Are there any other apps that work better than GPM?
