Google Play Music wont see local files.

I have copied a large chunk of my mp3 collection onto my new phone into the Music directory. Yet Play Music will not show the local files. All it will show is the "Subscribe to Play Music" screen. When I select the files individually they play just fine. I have checked and there is not a .nomedia file in the directory. What gives???
