Google Play or Retail Stores?

I would buy it from a retail store. That way if there's something wrong with it you can return it easier. Returning something to the Google Play Store is a bit of a hassel with having to speak to CS, get an RMA and having to ship it back.

Should I buy the new Nexus 7 directly from Google Play or buy it from retail stores like Future Shop in Canada?

Agreed. I got mine at best buy and I have 60 days to return it. It's a lot faster to go to the store if something is wrong.

Do you have to pay sales tax on internet purchases in Canada? That's the only sizable advantage I can think of to buying online. Buying local you both support local business and have an easier & faster return process if you have problems.

I bought from Google. No stores in town carrying the 32GB model and for me, if I had to return, which I didn't, shipping back would be much easier than making the 2.5 hour round trip to Best Buy, not to mention the quarter tank of gas it would cost. I'm in the boonies.

If you buy from Google Store and your device is defective, you can exchange the device for up to one year directly via Google. Instead of dealing with Asus.

Yes, that also entered into my decision, as I am rarely an early adopter and was a bit nervous.
