Same here. My N7 is not leaving the house without a case. I'm waiting for some user reviews before buying.

Not real worried about leaving the house but scratching or DROPPING are a concern. I can b a bit of a klutz and my dogs seem to always b in my way of tripping me.

I don't think you will like the Asus case from google play. I got mine today, and while it fits perfectly, offers decent protection and feels nice with the same style as the back of the bare Nexus 7, it has some serious drawbacks. The screen cover activates the touch sensors in the screen (it flipped over 30 pages in the kindle book when I closed it earlier). This would not necessarily be a problem if it had the smart sensor magnets, but it doesn't, and it doesn't look like it would be easy to modify. Also no stand feature, although the cover is rigid enough that it could support the weight of the tablet standing, you would need to have it on a non-slip surface and will probably still require strategic supporting objects to prevent it from falling flat. Forget portrait mode, cover is not rigid enough for that.

If anyone knows where to get strong polar magnets that are only a mm or two thick it might be possible to figure out how to embed them in the cover.
