Google Play Services and New Google Photos App

When I attempt to add a folder to backup automatically under the "settings - device folders" area, it switches to the 'blue cloud' icon (as if it was going to synchronize), then gives me the "Google Play Services Has Stopped Working *Because It Hates You.*" (I obviously added the last part.) There are minimal third party apps, and the default SMS. I've cleared cache on Google Play Services, uninstalled Google Photos, reinstalled, restarted, cleared cache from a soft reset, rinse & repeat many times, but to no avail.

Yes, I am aware of the particular settings, such as "backup only when wifi connected" and etc, and I can assure you that no combination works. Subsequently, nothing seems to have been backed up, as my photos / videos taken today of my son in the park are not showing up on the Web-view of Google Photos.

You'll note that there are others having this issue as well (see the reviews section for Google Photos!!), and there were even a few comments under an AC Article I read earlier today.

Please please update if anyone finds out anything new! THANK YOU!

Are you on the latest Google Play Services version? I'm on 7.5.73.

I probably won't have much else to offer. Are the folders you're trying to backup located on Internal Storage or the microSD card? If it's the card, then perhaps the card is problematic.

How do you check to see what version you are on? How do you update if not in the newest version?

To check the version, go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager, scroll down to Google Play Services and select it. Up at the top of the page, underneath where it says "Google Play Services", you should see the Version Number. Mine is 7.5.71.

As far updates, if you do not have auto update turned on and there is an update available, you should receive an update notification.
