Google Play Services Application Size

[Android Central Question]

So, since the update for Play Services in early December I've noticed that the app seems to be getting bigger. I think it used to be around 200Mb but it's currently sitting at 439Mb. After the last update it was back to normal for about a day but then it seemingly doubled its size again.
Any idea what that could be?
Not talking about Cache and Data btw. Those seem to be in the normal range.
