Google Play Services crashing constantly

I'm having the same problems, also on art

My MAXX is on 4.4.4, running ART, and I haven't had any issues with Google play services, or play store crashing.

I would say though, that my MAXX is running buttery smooth!

After updating to 4.4.4, 'a friend' tried ART for the first time, and after the arduous "upgrading" process, the phone ran hot and had a Force Close loop of either Gapps or Play Services (can't remember which). Going back to Dalvik fixed the problem. I guess it really isn't ready...

No more crashing with the new update

A little late on this thread but I'm having similar issues and am really frustrated with it. I'm new to both the device and Android in general and this has made an otherwise great change over from iPhone very irritating.

You mention factory reset and I realize that would wipe the data. If I were to backup the device, reset and then restore from a backup, would this potentially still help with the issue (Google Play crashes and awful battery life due to Google Play Services) or would any benefit of a reset be negated by restoring the backup?

Are you getting the crashes 4.4.4?

Galaxy Nexus (Maguro), 4.4.4 (Paranoid), GMS 6.1.74..6.1.83. Constant crashes on any app changes (update, install, remove), constant crashes on G+ sync. Logcat displays a PackageManager (!) crash, then immediately a Play Services crash. This problem is not limited to Motorola Droid, many users report it on Hammerhead and other Nexus phones.

yep my google play services keep stopping too on my phone and tablet and i have the latest xperia Z3 so it's not like its an old phone either :'(

Late to the thread but I'm Having this same issue for a couple weeks now. Have tried everything suggested and still no luck... Hoping someone can help at all.

I haven't had stability issues with google play services, but I have noticed that my battery life has been much worse than normal the past week or so.
Why?
Google play services is using a TON of battery.
I have a feeling that is because google play has been updating in the background, like it normally does right before we get pushed an OS update.

At least that's what I'm hoping...

EDIT: I have the wrong forum. I am having this problem on a OnePlus One.

I've been having this issue for several weeks now and I think I narrowed it down to Location Services. If I turn off GPS, the crashes stop. As soon as I turn it back on, Google Play Services crashes 10-20/minute. It's at the point where I cannot use GPS at all and forget trying to navigate anywhere.

"This might sound strange, but you can try resetting app preferences in Settings>apps>menu>reset app preferences. Sometimes this helps Google Play issues. "

That worked for me. The problem was seen when starting the location services or GPS. After doing the above I tested by starting the GPS service and this time no error message saying "Google play services have stopped : [Report | OK]"
Thanks a lot :)
