Google Play Services Update

So I've been running the very latest for the Google Play Services update and on WiFi standby is much improved. Play Services and the Google App barely show up in the battery settings, if they show up at all, and my estimated battery life at 100% is about 23 hours.

However the second I go off WiFi or go out and about Play Services goes crazy. In my 35 minute drive home from work my battery dropped 7% and the Google Now app and Play services went from 2% and 3% of battery use to both being 7% of battery use; the highest on the list and without me even turning the screen on once. When you're off WiFi the wake lock bug rears it's head and is likely keeping he phone awake and pining the GPS over and over again. Which, yeah, that's what Google does and it's how they make their money, but before Lollipop and v7.X.X this didn't happen so I don't think it's supposed to be this hyper aggressive with location tracking and all that.

It seems they've made some progress but they've got a way to go.

Mine must've updated in the background today to. Will see tomorrow if it makes any difference.

It appears to have so far. It's saying 23 hours left at 90% where it normally would say 15 or so hours left.
Go to Application Manager and you can see for sure.

Something that this new version does now is that for all of us with Android Wear (Smart Watches) the persistent notification in the Status Bar is finally gone, thanks God.

Yes, I noticed this and is long overdue!
