Google Play Store has completely disappeared from my phone

I have a samsung galaxy J7 prime running android 8.1, today the play store has completely disappeared from my phone its nowhere to be found, google play services is still running but I can't open any applications. Everytime I try to do so, a pop-up message appears saying that my device is "not compatible". I find that pretty ridiculous considering it was working yesterday. When I download google play store from a third party it fails but tells me that the playstore is already on my phone.

Yep only Play services is there play store is nowhere to be found

Welcome to Android Central! Hmm, that is a head-scratcher. When was the last time you downloaded an app? Do you remember what that app was?

I would suggest restarting your phone to see if it's a bug of some sort. If the issue still persists, try booting your phone into Safe Mode and see what happens.

Is phone rooted? What region are you in ?

yep it was the Firefox browser, restarted it in safe mode still getting the play services compatability error.

Do you have a Google folder in the app drawer? Check there.

Sometimes Samsung automatically puts apps in folders.

Nope its been working forever so that can't be the case

Strange , try this go settings >apps >3 dots tap in right upper corner>reset app preferences

Attempted this and no change, would resetting the device guarantee bring the play store and services back?

I'm not sure , but you will have to do it as I dont see anything left to try .
