Google Play Store keeps crashing on Z2 China Unicom version (model L50u)

Hi,

I've just got the slightly smaller China Unicom version of the Xperia Z2 (2.2mm shorter than the global version) it comes with Android 4.4.2 build 17.1.F.0.60. It didn't come pre-installed with Google Play, so I downloaded the APK for it (PlayStore_v4.8.20.apk) manually.

Every time I try to start the Google Play it sometimes appears not to start, but other times it closes immediately. its either crashing or maybe its one of the censored apps that i heard mention of. Can anyone suggest a way of installing it? or do I need to re-flash the phone with the European firmware.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that phone isn't certified for Google Play, and therefore is not necessarily compatible with it, even if you sideload it.
