Google plus using a lot of battery

Last night when I went to bed my S4 was on about 96% battery & when I woke up it was on a out 66% battery & at the top of my list is google+

Any idea why it's using so much battery?

Check if auto backup settings are on, perhaps Google + is uploading a lot of pictures.

All my photos are up to date so it can't back up anymore pictures.

After charging my phone google plus has disappeared from the battery monitor but facebook has appeared using 8%, android os using 10% & android system using 12%. Strange how google plus has disappeared but facebook has appeared :/ never had facebook on the battery monitor before.
