Yes, it is an old story. August 2008. So
I would say this story is untrue and IMHO,
Google could do a better job by building
their own wireless network from the
ground up or buying out T-mobile. Not
because of coverage, but because of
the technology T-mobile is using (UMTS)
vs. Sprint (CMDA & WiMax). The other
part is because Sprint is bleeding
customers due to customer satisfaction,
whereas T-mobile is usually at the top
when it comes to satisfaction surveys.

Ok thanks, now they bleeding less then in 2008. And customers satisfaction is getting better.

Okay that website looks shady and article looks poorly written. There's no validity to that, Google wouldn't be interested in buying a phone provider. End of story.
