Google search bar with just magnifying icon

The search bar just switch automatically to the one you see above. I disables Google Search and re-enable it and the Google came back.. anyone else with this? I don't mind it.. cleaner looking.. but I like as much Google branding as possible..

The Amazon MP3 app used to cause this for me" but it was fixed a while back. It started happening again after I use the Play Store occasionally. Might be tied to it.

This happens when you lose your data connection to the Google servers. Its basically just showing you that when you search for something Google isn't searching through its search engine, just your phone.

I could be wrong, but in my experiences the above has always been true.
