Google search results and overview screen

I have a galaxy note 5. It seems that every time I search for something on the Google toolbar, that result is saved and displayed on the recent list or overview screen. Because I search for things all the time, my overview screen is always filled with dozens of those.

Is there a way to prevent my recent searches from showing up when I hit the overview button?
