Google Settings brings Apps verification to older Android versions?

Hi everyone,

I was surprised when my HTC One X (running on Android 4.1) asked me if I wanted to enable Apps Verification.
I thought this feature was built into Android 4.2, but now it seems to be a part of the Google Settings app.

I'm not sure if this is old or new info, but I'm glad they made it available for older Android devices.

EDIT: Mhmm. Weird, the option is available on my device, but I don't get the warning screen when I install an app (not via Google's Play Store). Guess it was a false alarm. Sorry about that :-(
Would be cool if they could bring this feature to older Android versions.

Google verification only kicks in if you're using the actual package installer built into the phone and not the Play Store's. If the verification is now integrated within Google Settings, then it should be available to older android versions.
