Google sync issues

I cannot find the individual switch options for syncing Google. I DO NOT want the Google contacts to sync. I have gone to

Settings
Accounts & backup
Accounts
I chose my gmail account
Sync account

Then there's a list of what will sync but NO SWITCH

Contacts
Google Play Movies & TV
Calendar
People details
Gmail

I DESPERATELY DO NOT want my gmail contacts added to my phone. Help, please.

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this from the Galaxy Note forum (for the original ancient Note phone) to the Note10 forum.

What happens if you tap or long-press the Contacts listing there? Do you get any other options?
