Almost put this in the Kit Kat 4.4.x forum but since the article says it is a must be a bug fix I think only the Nexus line will get this 4.4.3 update. This could be a rumor only but this is what got my attention in the article that at least it adds information on the N5 battery drain;

Although it is unclear as to what kind of fixes this alleged update might bring in, a wild guess would obviously point to Nexus 5's camera issue.

Nexus 5's CPU maxes out whenever the camera app is launched. This in turn makes the phone get too hot on the surface and as a butterfly effect the battery drains out significantly. This issue clearly calls for a solid fix from Google.

Android 4.4.3, KitKat Update to Roll Out to Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Nexus 5 and Other Smartphones

This will be a minor update that will fix a camera issue found on Android 4.4.2 that over uses the CPU when the camera app is operational. This makes the device lag and drains the battery. The camera problem stems from applications running in the background that are continually trying to access the handset's camera application. Skype tries to access the camera regularly from its background service which is the number one trigger for this bug.

Nexus 5 owners seemed to notice this once they updated their handsets to Android 4.4.2. Google recently stated that it is preparing a fix as the issue has been made known on the company's issue tracking forum. It will probably come in the form of Android 4.4.3.

The only real solution to the problem at this time is to reboot the device. Uninstalling third-party apps also might help.
