The Google Streamer may have HDMI 2.1, but it seems to be software-limited to 4K 60fps. So you can't do things like Moonlight streaming at high-framerate 4K HDR, for instance.

Also, saying the Shield still gets frequent updates is a bit of a stretch. The last official update was a few years ago, and is several Android versions old. There's a "Hotfix" that's been cooking for over a year, but who knows if and when it'll ever get publicly released.

The new update is apparently a full update and happening soon, not the 9.1.2 or 9.2 (which Nvidia confusingly pushed depending on which flight you were on).

Author means unlike Google, Nvidia stands behind what they make, even if it's years later. I'd rather take an update years later rather than one that bricks the device or the typical buy next year's model for the next update *cough* Google
