Google USB drivers through SDK Manager access denied

when i try to get Google USB drivers through SDK Manager i get this message


Downloading Google USB Driver package, revision 4
File not found: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\temp\usb_driver_r04-windows.zip (Access is denied)

i got Drivers for phone when i plugged my TB into comp i'm assuming the google drivers from here are for ADB specific use trying to comp ready to root may or may not root tonight but wanna get ADB setup and this happens and ADB still isn't recognizing phone doesn't show up in device manager

any advice out there?

Probably has to do with it being an older version. You can get the adb drivers by installing HTC Sync

it took me well over an hour. it sucked. i wish there was a mirror site.

k well still pretty much stuck in same place, SDK keeps giving me a warning that Java is not in my path whenever i exit out of the SDK and AVD Manager which i did infact add it's location into my path, in the black command terminal i cannot type anything the line just stays put flashing, the phone does show in my device manager but not under ADB it shows "Android USB Devices" and under that "My HTC" earlier i had ADB showing in device manager but wouldnt recognize device under it that was before i installed USB drivers from HTC's website
any advice would be appreciated who woulda figured getting ADB working properly would be seemingly more of a hassle than rooting process itself.

For me, no matter what can't fire up adb command line unless I change directory down to its path. However once I do, I can issue adb devices and my Bolt shows up.

what is the purpose of the SDK, is it suppose to show the phone anywhere? The AVD manager doesn't show anything.

if you are tryign to install the SDK and it says it can't find your Java, here is the trick. After you have installed Java the problem resides with Java ona 64 bit systems (Windows) doesnt' go into the same path.

When installign the SDK(Android) and it gets to the screen saying it can't find it, hit back button, then next and it picks it up. Dunno why but it does and allows you to continue.

I have put on my systemt he Graphical ADB (Qik>??) It doesn't show the phone either.

Once we get the ADB installed, what is the next step to do to see if phoen is ready for anythign to be done with it. What can we do at that point?

i dont think that was the issue brother, they are having access issues, its common when trying to use SDK with windows 7 when the environment variables are not set up

DroidXcon helped me out on this problem in another thread by using quick and and CMD instead of the SDK

I had already done that i'm just gonna use quick adb as that seems to work fine full SDK has been being a huge PITA on my Windows 7 x64 setup

I was only providing that link so you (or anyone else) wouldn't have to deal with the mess that is the download speed on the HTC US server. I downloaded Sync just fine on Thursday off that server, but since then the server has been messed up. The international server is just fine.

Also, I've never had issues setting up the SDK on 7x64, both Home Premium and Ultimate, or XPx32 Pro.

Install JDK 1.6.
Extract SDK into a folder.
Add the /platform-tools directory and the Java /bin directory to the PATH variable.
Run SDK Manager.exe and download the Platform Tools and USB Driver.
Install any manufacturer specific drivers if they exist.

This process is like clockwork (hehe, get it?) to me and never fails.

not that I know anything, but try running sdk manager as administrator. Then downloads work

I didn't have a single problem on 7 X64 Pro, just used the following link to grab the latest SDK zip file for Windows

extracted all the contents and just ran the SDK Manager.exe, once inside click the SDK Platform Android 2.2, API 8, revision 2, let that install, then choose the available packages section and under 3rd party add on you need the google usb driver package rev 4., you have to modify it so it will work for the thunderbolt, but I will upload the modded .inf if people request it. Next, you need to open a command prompt window and be in the platform-tools directory of the the sdk folders you extracted. Make sure you phone is in usb debugging mode. type adb devices and it'll let you know if it sees your phone
