Google+ using a ridiculous amount of data.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note2 and over the past 2 days I've received several text messages from AT&T informing me that I was reaching my 10gb data limit. If I were near the end of the billing cycle I wouldn't be too concerned but my month just started 4 days ago. AT&T couldn't figure out the problem so I turned off my mobile data and installed My Data Manager. After just 6 hours on WiFi I used almost 6gb! The culprit - Google+. Until I can figure out why, I removed it from my phone. I recently joined several communities and think the problem is with Android Authority. I say this because I get more notifications from them than all others combined. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is your Google+ Auto Backup turned on, and set to upload photos and videos even on mobile data? If so, it could eat up a lot of data. Open Google+, tap Menu, then Settings, then Auto Backup, and adjust things there.

If you have a ton of pictures already loaded into Google, it caches thumbnails as well... G+ has about 900mb cached and I don't have a ton of stuff

just go into apps/settings and disable stuff you don't use, including a lot of google stuff. i even deleted a lot of google updates that were eating up a lot of space on my phone. some apps , like du booster, allow you to disable programs that autoload themselves when you turn on your phone.
