Any idea why Sprint is the only carrier with Google Voice integration? I wish TMobile had this feature... any idea if anything similar is on the horizon for the carrier?

Are you talking about Google Voice voice commands or Google Voice the phone service What do you mean by integration?. I've used Google Voice phone service for years with T-Mobile.

You can use Google voice. You have to put in a prefix to use it. It's not done automatically.
Google it. That's how I figured it out.

Sprint offers full carrier integration with Google Voice. I can get Hangout and text messages on any device with Hangouts running. So, for example, I can reply on my laptop to a text sent to my phone. I can also place and receive phone calls that way too.

If TMobile offered it, I would switch. I think it would draw in a lot if folks who like that imessage like cross device integration.

Of course T-Mobile can do that. For a while, I used Hangouts and the Hangouts Dialer and T-Mobile data-only SIM to make all my calls on VOIP. For years, I've used Google Voice for my business phone and GV voicemail for both my regular cell number and GV number. I'm sure anything Sprint can do with GV T-Mobile can do - probably Verizon and AT&T too.

Nah, Sprint has an arrangement with Google for better Google Voice integration than other carriers offer.

Essentially, they allow you to continue using your Sprint number while using all of the Google Voice features. So SMS for example will be accessible on the web in addition to in any SMS app on your phone (since it's using your carrier number) as opposed to just in the Hangouts app.

This is only available on Sprint.

The only difference this makes is if you don't like using Hangouts for SMS. If you use Hangouts, no difference. I don't use Hangouts, but I still don't care because I never look at SMS online anyway.

This is why you stay with Sprint? Really? A faster network, better customer service, stuff like that matters a lot more to me.

This is a very timely thread for me. I was sick of the sucky voicemail app on my Sprint-provided HTC One M8 and went looking for an alternative. I chose Google Voice. Alas, I can't rid myself of the thing that came on my phone (with its half-screen ads). I can't even disable the dang thing. A fat lot of good the Sprint/Google integration does for me. Is there a way I can dump/disable this thing?

If you're a postpaid customer, you have conditional call forwarding. That means you can use the Google Voice app for all your voicemail, both your regular cell number and Google Voice number, and just not use Sprint's voicemail.

During setup of the GV app it will ask if you want to use your carrier or GV for voicemail. Choose GV.

In the online GV settings, set GV to forward all calls to your cell number.

If the GV app still doesn't handle all voicemail, call Sprint and make sure their system picked up on the setting to let GV handle voicemail instead of their own system.

I have the same issue... I can disable the app, but it re-enables itself pretty quickly. The Google Voice features all work. If there is a way to remove the sprint provided, I'd love to know how to do it.

If Sprint's system is set to use Google Voice for voicemail, nothing ever reaches the Sprint app. It simply never does anything - so no notifications and you can just ignore the fact that it's even there.

No, they push out avatar message crap trying to entice you to upgrade to the premium version.
