Google voice on galaxy nexus questions

So i just got my Google voice number now that I have a galaxy nexus but I had a couple questions about using GV. Do you guys who use have issues with not having enough data signal? I'm trying to figure out whether I should use the Google voice app for texting or if I should use the messaging app that comes with the phone. My only concern I'd that if I don't have any data my Verizon phone number will pop up when I text people. I would prefer only my Google voice number pops up so I dont confuse people.

Also because this is the new nexus is Google going to make a way for voice to become more heavily integrated?

I'm not sure about the integration of Google Voice into the Nexus, but I haven't had problems sending and receiving text messages with GV which is my primary method for texting. It seems to work a lot more smoothly on the Nexus than it did on my prior android phones.

Do u use the messaging AP or the gv app on your phone to text?
