Google voice on nexus 7

I was wanting to be able to text with it instead of using my phone sometimes. Anyone know if Google voice will work with it for that?

Yep. My 9yr old son does it all the time on a droid 3 with no cell service (WiFi only).

If you use the app GroVeIP along with your google voice # you can use it as a phone in an emergency. I think it was $2.99 in Play.

Since the N7 is a wifi-only device, all you need is the free version of Groove IP. That said, it's always nice to support developers of awesome products and Groove IP is most undoubtedly an awesome product.

Use Google Voice and Talkatone.....both are Google apps and both are free. You can text and make phone calls anywhere in the continental US and Canada for free.....that is as long as you are tethered or on wifi.

Thanks for this one. I just made several calls over WiFi with this. If people looked at me funny with my galaxy note, I can imagine the looks holding this up to my ear.

Another trick is that you can link the "What's App" app to your Google Voice number and it will work through the wifi connection.

I use Google voice on my n7 all the time now. I was out last night with my n7 tethered to my sprit gnexus and was texting everyone from my n7. Works great.
