Google Voice on Verizon HTC M8

I keep on getting errors through the installation process saying my carrier doesn't allow 3rd party visual voice mail services. So my question is has anyone gotten google voice working on the verizon network using the htc m8? I've tried youmail, and while it works great I'm not a fan of the UI.

My wife has Google Voice on her Verizon M8, and it works fine. Try going to Settings>Apps>All​, and disable Visual Voicemail.
