So, I thought I'd give you guys some thoughts on the subject.
When it soft launched end of April and officially launched soon thereafter, I never was able to get it to "work". I kept getting the dreaded "Sorry, you are not eligible for this. Call Sprint for more details" bull**** message. Turns out, after reading a ton of support forums, that this is because I have a "corporate discount" on my individual plan. So, I guess it seems like Sprint thinks it's a Corporately paid for account, which GV is not eligible to be activated on.
I try once or twice every day. Tonight, I installed the Google Voice app on the Nexus S 4G I bought today to replace my EVO Shift 4G. It asked me if I wanted to enable the integration. I said yes, and voila. Either they updated something, or using the mobile app is the catalyst to get it to work. Try it if you're having problems.
The service itself is wonderful. Being able to text message people from the web is something you will enjoy, no doubt. Blocking callers, setting up the voicemail text transcription, and all the other amazing GV features is great to have. The secondary number I had been using separately before now is going to expire in 60 days. Good riddance.
I can safely say this is an amazing integration and I'm so happy Sprint has chosen to do this. As long as GV and Sprint remain integrated, count me in as a customer.
By the way, the NS4G is a great device. It has some shortcomings, obviously, and the radios need updating - but honestly, it's leaps and bounds beyond most devices.
