I have noticed this as well and it is a concern. I also work most of my messaging/voicemails from my computer and would not want to lose the feature of doing most voicemail and texts through the Google Chrome Extensions.
I loved Google Voice integration with my Palm Pre for the past 4 months. It was flawless and you could not tell if a message was sent through the network SMS or Google Voice. WebOS would combine all messaging from "linked" persons into the single messaging app whether it be from Google Voice, Google Talk or SMS. If Google could integrate the SMS messaging and Google Voice as Palm had done with WebOS, I think this issue could be resolved. Until then I'm sticking it out and doing everything through Google Voice.
By the way I am loving the switch to Android. So much more customization and wow, the quickness! It's amazing! I really have missed out on a lot this past year waiting for next "Pre" device to come to Sprint. I'm happy to be here.
***RESOLUTION UPDATE*** After doing a search in Google for "EVO 3D Google Voice Integration" the website (not sure if I can post it or not) but forums.xda-developers.com, donatum3 suggested going into the settings in Google Voice on the computer and check the "Text Settings: Receive text messages on this phone (mobile phones only)". I did this and it sent 2 messages, 1 message to my Google Voice App and 1 message to my Messaging App. To only receive 1 message, go into your Google Voice App on your phone, into the settings. Select "Sync and notifications". Then uncheck "Inbox notifications" and now you should only receive one text message to your phone in your Messaging App and it will still notify you on your computer through Google Voice.
