Google voice working

Do you have a link to the thread where you saw this? I'm assuming this has different info than the thread found here.

Saw it on DroidLife earlier today and it works for me. Didn't try calls but text worked.

Props to the dudes over at XDA for this.

Can't get past setup. I pick my account then it says phone number cant be verified.

You can add a number but can't verify. In browser go to Google voice. Top right is settings, then voice settings.

Don't think you will ever be able to verify. Same on SGT. The app works though and with sipdroid its an easy 1 click set up for calling.

Edit; you smoked me fred!

And Boiler Techs converted to Machinist Mates. I do like seeing the old BT2 insignia there live2ride

It is a good app and worked as good as it could. But with out being able to verify the zoom the app only refreshes the inbox in the background ag at a minimum of every 5 minutes. Not good for how I hv conversations with the family and friends. I went back to working gvoice thru my email again. Can't wait to see the next attempt! Keep em coming!

I am not savy when it comes to apps on the devices.. What do I do with the .apk file?

Once you down it to the device, you go into your settings to allow off market apps to install. Then go to your app drawer and pick down loads app. Then select the the downloaded apk. B4 you do all that make sure you go in to gvoice via browser and add your zoom number in seettings there. No you can't and don't need to verify the number.

Now your on your way.

Thank you. I figured it out and edited my post, but it looks like you are too fast for me. lol... Trying to setup now. Thanks for the help.

How are you able to make calls mine is installed and I can txt. But I am not able to make calls? So please explain the steps you are using to do this.

Once the GV is set up, download Sipdroid from the market. Open it and at the bottom there will be a button that says create with Google voice account. Create password and you're done!

Oh you can. Works very well, except when using BT headphones. It works for a bit then starts distorting the call. Disconnect BT and its fine.

The Video chat in gtalk is where its at though ;)

If bluetooth worked this would be AWESOME!

It is already cool as it is, but it would be better if there was a way to talk other than speaker. I am looking forward to Google Voice releasing the Honeycomb optimized app.

Ok, the voice thing isn't working for me (do have text), and I would be most grateful for the slowed down idiot version.

1. There's no desktop app for gv, so I'm doing that from my browser only. Accepted my zoom number but wouldn't verify, as expected. (Eta do you guys have another way to use without the browser? Am I missing something here?)

2. I downloaded sipdroid and installed and it prompted me to set up an account on pbxes.org linked to my TV account. Did all that.

3. When I open sipdroid and enter a number (my cell) it says it's dialing, but nothing else happens. Eventually I slide it down to end the call. The program doesn't freeze, no error message, just doesn't make a successful phone call.

What settings how/should I configure on sipdroid? For example do I configure to use just pbxes ( got a no network error when I tried that) or do I select 3g or wifi or all three?

Any help much appreciated. I plan to ditch my phone and laptop as soon as I have the zoom fully set up. I don't get all the whining in other threads about apps and price, my zoom rocks and this is the early adopter experience.

You need to install the application. In the Original Post (OP) there is a link to download the .APK. Install that and go through setup. You will need to DELETE SIPDROID. Remember your username. After setting up GV app reinstall sipdroid and a box will be on bottom of dialer saying to create with gv account.

Here it is again; http://www.mediafire.com/?py9etbnd1b9vgkt
