Google Wallet now supported on Verizon Galaxy Nexus?

So with today's Wallet update, I was trying to get it working on my Nexus 7 tablet. For some reason, the update wasn't showing right away, so I found a Play Store link online. Surprisingly, it listed my Verizon Galaxy Nexus as being compatible. I installed right from the browser Play Store. It was sent to my device, and after a brief force close or two during setup, it is now running on both my Nexus 7 and Verizon Galaxy Nexus.

I am not rooted, but am unlocked. Stock 4.0.4. The only thing I do notice is that the Google Prepaid Debit Card is different on both devices, even though it's setup using the same Google Account (The Galaxy Nexus has a prepaid card that I added back in January with the correct balance, the Nexus 7 has a brand new debit card with 10 dollars pre-loaded on it).

Anyone else notice this? Was it just a glitch in the system that let me do this?

Not a glitch, everyone that activates Wallet on a new device gets $10 on that specific device that is apparently non-transferable

Think he's more curious about it being officially supported on Verizon than the free $10

Verizon just got slapped with a fine for limiting what apps can be downloaded to their phones. I believe part of their agreement to get the spectrum for their LTE network was that they couldn't prevent any apps from being available. I thought I read that WiFi tether will be free now as well(not just on the new tiered plans).

Has nothing to do with Wallet. The specific issue was VZW blocking tethering apps. VZW can still charge for tethering. The C block spectrum rules have nothing to do with that. They were blocking 3rd party tethering apps and that what the lawsuit that brought this ruling was about. The shared plans already get free tethering for all intents and purposes. The grandfathered unlimited 4G data plans still have to pay although it's almost impossible for VZW to tell if you're tethering or not.

Google is Verizon's lacky for anything Google produces. They need to become a carrier and be done with these dumb asses. I am sick of all these apps not working with Verizon. The worst decision they ever made was release the GN to Verizon.

wow it does look to be supported on the vzw gnex...when i saw this yesterday I checked the playstore on my pc and It was still not supported. so i side loaded the new apk version.

today I went back to fool around and saw that it was saying gw was supported for my gnex now. SO I uninstalled GW and removed the side loaded apk version and hit install from my pc......and it worked!

:D

When I go to the Play Store, my GN is still grayed out. The only thing that shows in my N7.

I think this has more to do with the fact that Google merged a couple different services into wallet.

What is so cool about Google Wallet, and why can I not install it? It says my carrier/device: s nit supported. Where can I find it to install (non rooted)

Question about the official app... I'm still working on figuring out the best ROM, so I'm flashing and wiping an awful lot. With the official wallet app from the play store, do I need to worry about breaking the secure element?

My VZW Glaxy Nexus is still greyed out on the Play Store. Did you guys have to clear cache or anything before hand?

I had to install it from a web link on my computer. My gnex wasn't grayed out there. (I wasn't able to find it in the play store on my phone though.)

Yea I have tried install it from my computer. One thing I have noticed was a buddy of mine could install it to his from the web but his Nexus was listed as Samsung Galaxy Nexus where as mine is labeled Verizon Galaxy Nexus...I wonder if that has something to do with it.

BTW I have side loaded the apk but it would be nice for it to be in the Play Store for me.

I've been checking the play store every couple of hours, and it showed for me about a half an hour ago. Installed, configured and ready to go.
