Just a heads-up for those who want their Nex 7 to match their Nex 5, the GoogleNow launcher will do just that.

I like running the stock kitkat launcher in my Nex 5 and wanted to update my 7 to same, especially to get the swipe left for GoogleNow function and also because it was weird to have the new oversize icons on my phone and tiny ones on my tablet. Translucent top and bottom bars and you can use "Ok Google" command from the home screens just like on the 5.

I found a good noob tutorial written for a Galaxy S3 but it works fine for Nex 7:

Have they fixed the issues on the Nexus 7? I was using this launcher a while back, and was losing icons. Otherwise I liked it, and would like to go back to using it.

Thanks for this, love the translucency of this launcher. As for the icons disappearing I haven't had that issue so maybe they did fix it.

I downloaded Google Now Launcher and am impressed with it. Still using Apex though.

I was thinking about this before using my Nexus 7 again. Good thing Google fixed that annoying missing icon bug.
