Google's Nexus 7 tablets dying early, possibly due to cheap memory

>>>Attention the following is a poor attempt at sarcasm<<<

Reading an article about Android on an apple site, is like watching a Fox news segment about Democrats.

I love this quote from one of the comments.

" Recover from this involves button holding / restarting voodoo"

I see him standing there, with his Nexus 7
flailing his arms & hands,
tears running down his cheeks,
I can't do it,
I can't do it,
its a button, a button
For God's sake I'm only human, it's a buttooon.

How does he get to work each day.
What kind of work can he be expected to do?

>>>End of sarcastic remarks<<<

I guess I got the only good one.

Nope, mine has been flawless. Of course, I don't peruse Apple sites to influence my opinion of Android systems either. :<)

I kind of thought the same thing but "Android and Me" posted a similar report yesterday blasting the Nexus 7 and I was surprised by how many of the comments agreed with the sentiments of the author. Here a link to the story: One year later, the Nexus 7 has gone from the best to worst tablet I?ve ever owned | Android and Me Edit, I should add, I've had no problems whatsoever with my own Nexus 7 nor noticed any lag or anything like over the 6 months I've owned it.

Zero problems here.

My Nexus 7 lately has been super slow and lags a lot. :-(
I have tried clearing cache and reducing background apps but no avail.

I've had the 8gb Nexus 7 since launch and it has not slowed down at all over time. 4.2.1 was a little iffy but since 4.2.2 it has been clear sailing.

Mine as well.
I did several factory resets. I also don't put nearly as many apps that I have on my phone, and it still runs a lot slower.
The worse lag for me is scrolling through Widgets, and viewing Apps within the settings menu. I also have several apps that load slower on my Nexus 7, in comparison to my phone.

I wasn't disputing that there was a problem with some 7's.
Just found the comment about having to "hold a button" humorous
:-)
Sorry, I have sad, warped, sense of humor, and sometimes statements like "involves holding a button" set my sarcastic mind racing.

Yeah, I totally missed your point. Re-read and found it quite funny, especially since I haven't mastered myself the button combo for booting into recovery mode.....lol

My Nexus 7 Slowed down a lot and lagged to even turn it on.... Until I installed a custom rom. Now its blazing fast again

The only person I know that has a Nexus 7 is having the same issue

Had mine since November and haven't had any problems. Mine is loaded with games for my kids. The only time it slows down a little is during app update installation.

There are many variables that could affect performance. There is the Google currents issue for example.

I would start by disabling apps one by one.

I'm not sure how u guys can say that your tablets have been lag free. My nexus 7 is generally lag free, but then comes the odd time when pulling down the notification shade stutters, scrolling through the settings menu stutters, transition animations stutter, scrolling through the app drawer and widget drawer stutters (a lot). There are also frequent dropped frames when scrolling through apps like Google+ and twitter, which really frustrates me. I think the only device I can say is lag free is my nexus 4

Dammit why did I read the article and its comments; I'm on the verge of going to full rage mode.

Anyways, my N7, while having some minor lag, is still going strong. No issues in the past half a year (and the only issues I had last year were solved by an easy reboot).
