2.2 was recently pushed out to my phone, and I couldn't be unhappier.

On 2.1 my battery would last pretty much all day, draining to the point that it asks to connect a charger by maybe 7 or 8pm. By then I usually am home and its not a problem.

Now when I drive to work, just from home to work, 45 minute drive, the battery drains to 70%. No phone calls, no texts, no usage what so ever, all email syncing disabled, and task killer set to autokill as frequently as possible. By noon, the phone is dead. Powered off, won't turn on, completely 100% dead. I have to charge it overnight to get a full charge again. My usage habits haven't changed at all.

I've contacted Verizon support and they can't help me at all. I talked to three different people who walked me through battery troubleshooting tips, the same thing every time, then "escalated" the call to someone else who did the same thing, and then "escalated" it again. Musical chairs I guess. After the 3rd peon who had no knowledge what so ever of what the person before me just did and having to start over again, i just yelled at them for a little bit and hung up. I'll visit the store tomorrow and see if they are willing to help me or not. I really regret letting the phone update now. I hate this piece of junk. Anyone have any solutions to help?

You can try doing a hard reset of the phone and do away with the task killer. Many people here have reported that they don't work with Froyo. Before the reset, make sure you back everything up like settings and apps. It's a pain, but it seems to have worked for others. I did the update using the leaked OTA file, and I haven't had any problems. Best of luck!

Or just root with revoked and then load a rooted factory Rom zip for a clean install after you've backed up. Worked great for me.

ATK* Autokill is killing your battery, uninstall ATK, Do a factory reset.

Do a factory reset like the others said, I had almost all the same issues as you have after I did the factory reset the issues are pretty much all gone Including the battery life :)

Also I have found you need to Bump Charge like 4 times and after that it will be ok. I have 2 dIncs and had to do this to both. Both of them were fixed by doing this.

I also had some weird lagging issues with the phone after Android 2.2 regarding the browser. I backed up every thing from the phone memory and the SD card, then nuke every thing on the phone. That way there was no trace per se with 2.1.

I would back up every thing and wipe it clean. (factory reset.).

Go to settings > SD card and phone storage > factory data reset.

Remember back up your stuff it will be gone.

i did a factory reset and backed everything up on my sd card. how do i get it all back? do i need to connect it to my computer or can i do it from my phone?

Since my ota 2.2 upgrade, like most, my 1750 battery life is worse. I called VZ. The brilliant rep said I should definitely install the app killer! When I mentioned that 2.2 was supposed to definitely make an app killer unnecessary, she xfrd me to brilliant "Bob" in tech support. Bob said, if you have an app killer, uninstall it immediately. He then said that Verizon is only the carrier. If I have an issue with the phone---call HTC and then he gave me their phone number! I explained that I haven't paid one penny to HTC---I've only paid money to VZ. He said he still uses a basic flip phone and really had no information or knowledge of how to use the incredible! I thanked Bob for his wealth of information and called HTC. The HTC rep said they've been swamped with calls like mine and walked me through backing up my data on my SD card and then completed a factory reset. The HTC rep said HTC is working with VZ to fix the problem that is being caused by a plethora of apps running non stop and causing battery drain. He said he thought HTC might have rushed the release of 2.2. Do ya' think? I'll see how the factory reset helps this very annoying problem. I'm considering replacing the Inc but I'm not sure which phone I would choose. Good grief!

I had the exact same problem. I'd literally check my email for a minute and my battery would go down 3%. What i did was remove my SD card, deleted all unnecessary junk on it, and did a full factory reset (i backed up my contacts with backup assistant first, since some of my contacts arent synced to my google account). Then i just reinstalled only the apps i really use like Mobile Banking and Notepad and now instead of 3g i use wifi in my dorm room. My battery can last a full 24 hours now.

Turns out the signal in the dorm rooms here is really bad since the walls are so thick, so my phone was draining its battery trying to find a signal. See how doing a full factory reset does.

Also the task killer apparently does not work well with froyo. Try using your phone without it. Since I did the full factory reset, I havent installed a task killer and it seems to be doing fine.

Factory reset with root?

I am rooted.. with only wireless teather. Do I need to do anything special before doing a factory reset? Will I loose root? Battery life is terrible. less than 3 hrs of use.

One thing that I noticed after my 2.2 upgrade was that if you go to the Accounts & Sync settings page you'll find a bunch of new sync'ing going on. Turning off a lot of the stuff I wasn't using kicked my battery life up a lot.

I also noticed that a few cycles of bump charging those first few days really boosted my battery life. I have noticed (and have seen graphicly with JuicePlotter) that charging takes much longer than it used to, but battery life is much longer.
