Got a defective Galaxy Nexus phone from Google, what should I do?

I ordered a Galaxy Nexus last week from Google Play Store and received it last Friday and hoped to enjoy it. However, the phone was defective. It cannot turn on. I used the battery coming with it and borrowed another battery from others; anyway, the phone could not turn on. I tried to charge the battery, and the phone remained the same.

I have called Google Play Store many times since last Saturday, and all they did was listening to my issues and sending me a mail after the phone call asking me to wait to be contacted, and nobody has ever contacted me. (btw, every time I called them, I had to wait for at least 25min to begin to talk.)

This is really disappointing. :'(

What should I do to get a device exchange or a return?

It's a common issue, try carefully cleaning the contacts on the battery and the phone then reinsert the battery and see if you can boot it up

Oh, thank you for telling me to clean the contact part of the phone! It works now. Really amazing. I had tried cleaning the contact part of the battery so many times, but it never occurred to me to try to clean the contact part of the phone.
Now it works and i'm waiting for the updating of the system :)

Sure no prob. I read that somewhere on the forum that during the manufacturing process the residue of some kind of chemical remains on the contacts and simply wiping it with the piece of cloth helps.
