dont know if new or not. No marks on it, kickstand not peeling.

The problem is I have the old android market place on the phone, version 2.12. It won't update to the new version of the market I had on my previous bolt. Does anyone know how to get it to update? I've read it's supposed to automatically, but it wont.

Clear he application data and cache under settings, application.

The Thunderbolt is most likely a certified like new replacement. If it has a white sticker in the battery bay with a date. It is possible you got a new phone as well, just unlikely.

has a white sticker in battery bay.. does that mean used phone? The rep told me they would send a brand new phone, but it will come in the certified box, but assured me it would be a new phone. This is the only reason I did this. If it's used... I want to complain. I bought a new phone and if it's breaking due to verizon updates, I should be replaced with a new phone, not a used one.

Tried this, still is giving me the old market version. I'll wait to see if it auto updates from here. Thanks for the info and I'll let you know if it works.

You have the best of both worlds. You have a phone in-hand that you cannot tell the difference if it is new or CLN. You have a time period to try it out. You can decide if it suits your needs, or not. I would not rush to "complain" about anything if you decide you like this particular unit. Because it matters not what was sent to you, only that it satisfied your requirements. There is no guaranty that a "new" phone will be better for your requirements/issues than a Certified Like New phone.

point taken

If it has a green "void" sticker over one of the body screws on the volume button side its a refurb. If its a black sticker its new.

I agree, I don't care if it is new or clnr or even used, so long as it looks new and doesn't have the problems my current phone has
