Got Droid X root after OTA .596?

Alright community, have a question for you.

Just to throw this out there, I am new at the root game, but I've done my fair share of research already so hopefully I can keep the newbie questions to a minimum.

So far I haven't seen anyone achieve root with the new OTA for the DX, just the leaks that were previous. Does anyone know how to root it, and if so what method are you using?

I have a Droid X, and I'm installing the .596 software update. I plan on trying z4root again. Does that not work?

I read on a different forum someone trying z4root and it bricked his phone. So I was hesitant to try it. If you take the jump though post your findings!
