Hey guys. I got hit with some ransomware last night. It only pops up when I go to Internet. I've tried downloading apps to find it no luck. And then i also tried to find it myself in safe mode but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Any suggestions other than factory reset?

Also if I use the ok Google thing it'll pull up results. And if I click on something and use Internet it'll go to that lock up screen. But if I choose chrome, it goes to the website I clicked on. So it only seems to be on the actual Internet app. If this helps at all.

Update. I went into app manager and I force stopped Internet. And then i deleted the updates of the current app. It popped up a warning saying it would revert it back to original version or something. So I said yes. And after it was uninstalled, it was still on my home screen and when I clicked on it the pop up was gone and I can now access the Internet fine. Is the problem now solved or do I need to do other steps?

I would definitely flush my cache...the method of how would be on your device's support page.

Thank you. I think I did that as well. But I will double check to make sure.

Have the same problem but don't follow exactly how you solved your problem. Can you elaborate on the step by step you followed? Were you in safe mode when you went into app manager? When you "force stopped the Internet" do you mean you force stopped the browser - if so, which one - Chrome or the original browser that was the source of the infection? When you say you deleted the updates to the current app - what do you mean by the current app? I am a novice here and would really appreciate more detail on the solution you found. Thanks
