Went swimming with my V20.
Screen was cracked already. Seemsnlike water got inyo crack and pretty much ruined the screen. Phone boots up but cant get past security because touch screen functionality is dead. Think the odda are good that phone will be functional with a new screen? Iow...is it worth replacing screen and hoping that everything else is OK since phone is booting up?

First see Oh, no! My Phone got Wet! and hope it's not too late. (If it was in the ocean or a chlorinated pool, it might be.)

If and when you get the water out of the phone, get an estimate on a screen replacement. The screen itself isn't that expensive (about $50), but the labor might be. Compare that to the price of a replacement phone, gently used from swappa, or refurbed from Amazon..

It might not be just the screen thats the problem if you went swimming with the V20

That's exactly my question. (The water was fresh water no saltwater or pool water) If I have to take a chance on cost of screen replacement, and the phone is booting up fine until I get to the security tap code (which wont work due to inoperative touch screen)...are the odds good that a screen replacement will restore my phone to fully operational? I realize this is completely subjective; I'm just looking for opinions based on experience.

Hmmm...I read Rugbat's article on what to do if a phone get's wet. I did every single thing wrong apparently. Phone is probably toast even though it appears to boot up.

My opinion, having gone through this with other phones - get a used one off swappa. I've had phones that have appeared to recover from water, only to start experiencing issues with the headphone jack, phantom reboots, etc. Since you already need a screen and can get them off swappa for somewhere around $135, I'd do that. Good luck.
