I just purchased the table about 4 days ago, and its worked flawlessly thus far, and at the moment is again. Although i was out for a bit today, and it was having this issue where it would randomly go to sleep on its own, sometimes even as suddenly as when i unlocked the phone it would go right back to sleep. Since arriving home... nothing, it works great. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this? My first assumption was the gps in the phone, but i honestly haven't a clue.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have a case? Some cases have a smartcover function, where a small magnet inside the cover triggers a magnetic sensor on the left edge of the tablet (when held in portrait orientation). If the sensor senses the magnet, the screen goes to sleep (because the cover is closed). If the magnet lifts off the sensor (like when you open the cover), the tablet wakes up.

Sometimes, the magnets in these cases are too strong, such that if you fold the lid back, the sensor still detects the magnet. If that's a problem, you have to either avoid folding the cover back, or find a new case.

If you don't have a case, see if you have anything else with a magnet that might be triggering the sensor whenever the screen goes to sleep.
