GPS is acting up

Just curious as to see if anyone else is having issues with GPS locking on.

I use GPS when I go running. I use SportyPal. I also use it for GEOCaching.

When I did get a signal at work, it put be about 3/4 from where I was.

I just recently got a replacement phone and rooted it. It was working fine yesterday....but with all the issues VZW is having lately, I thought maybe this was one of the issues.

I know the GPS is separate from VZW, but still!

I have GPS Status and I ran it and then did the MENU --> TOOLS -->Manage --> Reset and Download

I am currently running "i-Kream Brickcity". I have tried Eternity, Zeus, Theundershed, Thunderstick and even the stock GB ROM with the same issue. I am thinking it might be the phone.

I think I am going to UNROOT tonight and test it. If not, ASURION.....you will be getting a call from me!

Try this method...
Flash back to your gb rom.
Once there make sure gps is on and then open google maps.
You should be able to get a gps
lock here.
Without closing/exit Google maps,
hit your home button.
Next go to your rom manager and flash back to your AOSP or what ever rom you want?
Then try using your gps apps now

Thanks.....still didn't work. On the phone right now with ASURION.....she is stepping me through all the steps to reset it.....******yawn****** I didn't dare tell her I rooted it and unrooted....LOLOL



UPDATE:: The lady was really nice. SHe said they would send me out another phone. I asked "Since this will be my 4th TBolt (the first 2 broke because of me....screen) and since the TBolt is OLD, they should have a BRAND NEW never been used one....she checked and said they have one and will send it out. I should get it on Monday.

Like I told her, the PHONE part works 100%, it is the GPS and 4g that is flaky.

I hope you found out that the GPS on many phones is acting up, you might not want to start from scratch if there is nothing wrong with your phone.

I realized that the other day when my GPS was locking in. But, in my defense.....Verizon Customer service should have known. I didn't call or make a claim under false pretense.

I don't mind starting over on a new phone, especially since it is a new phone. I have also had issues with the replacement SIM card. Also, I will mention, my daughter has a TBOLT and I have asked her how her GPS is acting. She said that it was working fine, but then again, she doesn't use it as much as I do.

Well, I get the phone today. I will put it through it's paces. I will root it after I check to make sure everything is working. I might keep it stock (other than rooted) for awhile. I always say that, but within an hour, it has i_kream, or Sky Radier or BAMF on it!....LOLOL

Well, I got my new.....BRAND NEW in the box, never been used Thunderbolt yesterday. So far, working like a charm. I rooted it immediately, then I went to restore (via My BackUp Pro) my apps and was shocked and horrified that it wasn't on my SD Card. I freaked out. Then I realized that the girl at the Verizon store left the one that came with the new phone in there. So, I put my "old" SD card in and all my backups ups where there. So I restored ETERNITY and then went to restore my APPS and they weren't there.....ARRRGGGHHHH....I didn't back them up. So, I ended up restoring my NANDROID backup of Zeus (backed up earlier in the day) and after it was up and running, I made a BACKUP of my apps......whew!.

But, after saying all that......it is working fine. I am hoping this one will last until I upgrade in December.

The girl did tell me that the iPhone 5 will be out by then.....duh!.....LOLOL

Good to hear all is good.
If a rep to tell me the new iphone is coming out, I think I might (for fun) ask them if I can load android on to it hehe.
