Yes it is extremely useful. I'm a manager at a convenient store and I get people asking for directions all the time.

When I flip the phone open I always get a "wow" or "cool" everytime.

What about good car mounts? Or desk stands? I've had little fortune in finding a store with mounting kits on display, many appear to obstruct edge ports.

This is the one I used in the picture. It holds the Echo in dual screen from the hinge to the bottom.

It's really secure. Drove 2 hours to SD today and it worked great.

That actually does look pretty good. I've been looking for a claw mount (1 upper and bottom corners), but most are sized for a specific GPS (ie not adjustable).
